TURGUTREİS

This town is named after the famous Turkish mariner, Turgut Reis, and is the second largest on the peninsula.  There are hotels and resorts next to its sandy beach of more than two kilometres long.  Its Saturday street market is very popular.  The modern new marina has contributed to the economy and cultural life of Turgutreis, which is a town with many year-round residents.

YALIKAVAK

If you take the road from Yalikavak to Bodrum, from the very top of the hill where the windmills are you have a view of both the south and north coasts of the peninsula.  Yalıkavak almost always has a breeze, and with events held at its newly opened marina, aims to contribute to the cultural life of the peninsula.  It was once famous for its sponge divers, and now is known for its fish and citrus fruit.  It also has smart houses with big gardens.  There are many restaurants, hotels and pensions along the shore, however, it is still a good choice for those seeking a quiet holiday.  The peninsula that divides Yalikavak into two is a protected area that is home to the highly endangered Mediterranean monk seal.
